WEEKS ONE through SEVEN JUVENILE DETENTION OFFICER BASIC TRAINING (200+ hours)
|
Juvenile Probation Officers are required to complete the newly implemented Basic Training for New Juvenile Probation Officers. Like the Use of Force Training, which is included as part of this training, this curriculum is competency-based and requires minimal standards of performance on a course examination at the conclusion of the last week of training. Trainees must also pass the Use of Force written examination and the tactical competency evaluation at the conclusion of Week Two, and complete requirements for CPR and First Aid certification during Week Three. The training consists of seventeen modules, the last of which is a review of all the previous training as a final preparation for the course examination. A 40-hour On-the-Job Training module is completed in the employee's own detention center following the classroom training.
